Minority Report Touchscreen and Back to the Future Nuclear Fusion

I saw the neatest demo for multi-touch screens from Slashdot. Have you ever seen the movie Minority Report? There's a really cool scene where Tom Cruise is manipulating some video with his hands. This is nowhere near as crazy futuristic but it's still pretty cool.

There's also some new nuclear fusion experiments noted on Slashdot done without a massive generator on a tabletop. The first experiments were done at UCLA (go Bruins!) and are replicable unlike the cold fusion experiments of the 1980's. The researchers also don't claim being able to produce endless clean energy. Instead they envision being able to make portable X-ray machines and uses in cancer treatment. Still, it sure does sound like energy from nuclear fusion is closer. Exciting and scary.

Have you seen Back to the Future 2? It's like Mr. Fusion, the nuclear fusion device on the Doc's car. That reminds me of a spoof Christina saw called Brokeback to the Future. there's also some other funny spoofs on NPR.
